Previously, we covered Alistair’s journey in adding a Cedarspan retreat to his rural property in Laguna, NSW. Current owners Emma and Keith have enjoyed this gorgeous weekender for a few years but are now looking for a smaller land size.
Set in a private valley in Laguna with expansive views of the Yengo National Park, this is the perfect weekend retreat. Self-sustainability at its best, this Cedarspan has been set up with an off-grid solar system, water tanks & a slow-combustion fireplace for winter.
Alistair, the original owner, purchased a 40CHL50 Cedarspan Loft Barn and customised the design with an enclosed verandah, additional windows and Cedar cladding.
The front Verandah provides an additional 1.9m x 9m of covered space where they can watch the sunrise whilst enjoying their morning coffee
Emma and Keith have re-styled creating a paired backcountry lux feel. Who wouldn’t want to spend a weekend away and escape from city life in this gorgeous oasis?
Going bush
An off-the-grid lifestyle was ideal for Alistair, using the second bedroom as his work-from-home office.
“I worked remotely for 20 years, so it was one of the reasons we went bush.”
“It’s lovely, no traffic, no travelling. It was nice working from there with the bush setting from the cabin’s perspective.”
Comfortable and cosy, like a country cabin should be, “It was a warm house. We had a combustion fireplace plus a wood-burning AGA.”
Despite parting with the property, Alistair keeps in touch with the new owners. “They are enjoying the isolation there,” he is pleased to announce.
