1 Choose your design
Select from the clean, contemporary lines of the Mod or eSpace, the more traditional styling of the Verandah or Porch, or the simplicity of the Workshed.
2 Set your size
From 8m2 to 54m2 and larger, with a choice of wall heights and panel configurations, there’s a footprint to fit any space.
3 Personalise your finish
Design freedom from top to bottom, inside and out – customise your building with your choice of cladding, colours, windows, doors, add-on features and layout.

Melwood buildings range from around 8m² up to over 54m², with a choice of wall heights and panel configurations, so there’s a footprint to suit most backyards and uses. Our Design Solutioneers will help you find the best design and layout to suit your needs and space.
Our Melwood garden rooms have options for both habitable and non-habitable use, and council-exempt options are also available. Our Design Solutioneers will guide you through the local planning approval requirements relevant to your location and planned usage, plus the building options that are available to you. Please note, our Melwood Mini range is designed as an exempt, non-habitable option.
Yes. A garden room adds versatile space for multiple purposes and typically costs less and installs faster than a home extension, so it can offer a quicker return, plus everyday value from extra storage and privacy. We cover this in more detail in how much value a garden room adds.
Our Melwood range is generally designed for backyards – a studio, home office, garden room or extra space – alongside your existing home. If you’re building on acreage or need a larger rural structure like a barn or farm shed, a Cedarspan is often more appropriate. However, plenty of Melwoods have been installed on remote blocks and rural acreage sites, and smaller Cedarspans in some backyards. Not sure which is right for you? There’s no single price. Because every Melwood is personalised, your design, size, wall height, cladding, colours and window and door choices all shape the final cost, so two buildings of the same size can differ significantly. That flexibility is the point – you’re not paying for a fixed product, you’re specifying one that fits your budget and needs. You get to choose. We can connect you with experienced installers who are familiar with our building system, subject to availability in your area. Alternatively, you can use your own builder, or take it on as a DIY project. Your Melwood arrives PreCrafted as install-ready panels with a detailed Installation Guide, and we provide a full briefing for anyone new to our system. Phone support is also available throughout the build.
