Getting Your Home Summer Ready With a Garden Shed
Now that winter has come to a close, the sight of spring and summer fun is like the light at the end of a very long, cold tunnel.
We bet you’ve already started talking about vacations you want to take, the beaches you want to road trip to in the next few months, and the barbecues you want to have, but there’s a few things you have to do before firing up the grill and hitting the road.
Here are our top tips for easing the seasonal transition and getting your home (and life) summer ready with Melwood’s garden sheds:
First Things First, Spring Cleaning
Before you get rolling on transitioning your home out of hibernation mode, you’ll want to go through all the nooks and crannies of your house to separate the stuff that’s old and needs to be tossed, or the stuff that’s been sitting untouched in the back of your closets and needs to be donated. No use in taking up precious space with things that you no longer have a need for.
As you’re moving through your spring cleaning checklist you’ll probably come across things you only use in the colder months (like space heaters, extra comforters, etc.), so You’ll want to set those aside because they’re not going to clutter up your house either, those are going out to the garden shed.
Finally, once you’ve gotten through the most difficult part of making the transition from winter to spring, you’ll want to go through all your rooms and clear the cobwebs, scrub the floors and polish the furniture.
Whew! We promise this is the most laborious part, but next up is the fun stuff!
Switch Out Your Decor
Now that your home is nice and clean and you’ve cleared out all the junk, it’s time to really spruce your place up by switching some decor and bringing new life to the inside and outside of your home.
And don’t think it needs to be a major redecorating overhaul, simply changing throw pillows and outdoor seating cushions can be great ways to introduce pops of spring and summery color without having to go too overboard in the decorating department.
This is also the time to start pulling out the flower pots and the garden herb boxes so you can get your garden flourishing just in time for your spring garden parties and summer grill outs.
We’ve found that many of the homeowners with Melwood garden sheds like to pack away the bulky winter gear where they keep their spring and summer decor during the cold months, so that space is always being used on rotation, which also means more closet space and less clutter indoors. And don’t worry about the cold winds or humidity weather affecting your stuff, our sheds are made from quality Australian materials made to withstand our sometimes harsh climates.
Wheel Out the Summer Fun
Finally, after cleaning and sprucing up your decor, it’s time to wheel out the big guns aka the grills, backyard fire pits and if you’re really doing summer right, the above ground pool.
If you couldn’t have them before, you can now with a garden shed because not only do you have a place to store them when they’re not in use, but you also don’t have to fret about cleaning them at the start of spring.
So long as you give them a good clean up before packing them away, (which would be much easier than cleaning them months later) all you have to do is wheel the grill out and fire it up, minimal maintenance required.
