Whether it’s for a teen retreat, pool cabana, home office, backyard gym or even a granny flat, Melwood is the ideal choice. We specialise in made-to-order cabins and work with you to create the perfect solution.

All Melwood backyard cabins are made in our workshop in Sydney, and are backed by a 10-year structural warranty.

Backyard cabin delivery

In Metro Sydney, delivery of your Melwood cabin is fast and free to the last point of delivery vehicle access. Our specially-trained install partners assemble your cabin, usually within one day.  We deliver Melwood cabins to all areas of NSW including the Central Coast, South Coast, Newcastle, Western NSW, and Canberra area, and have been doing so for almost 50 years.

Outside of Sydney Metro in SA, VIC, TAS, QLD, NT or WA?  We can still deliver your cabin to you. Click here to search for your area in our Delivery Zone map.

If you’re after a little DIY action and would love the satisfaction of assembling your own cabin, we supply your custom-made cabin as a kit with instructions. We’re also at the end of the phone or a video call to help with any further install help and advice that you need.

Otherwise, you have the option of using your own builder, or one of our experienced install partners to assemble and fit out your new backyard cabin.

Is council approval needed for a backyard cabin? 

Depending on what you are using your cabin for, you may not require council approval for your backyard cabin.

In some areas, some structures can be put in under exempt development, meaning you don’t need council approval. Click here for more information.

If you are looking at putting in a granny flat, studio, home office or pool cabana, you may need to get council approval. Check with your local council as to their requirements.

  The grid floor design, constructed from treated pine, provides incredible extra stability.
