Our Partners in Sustainability

At Greenspan, building sustainably isn’t a goal; it’s a fundamental principle woven into every aspect of our work.

But sustainability can’t just be about how we build. It must also be about who we build with. That’s why we collaborate with like-minded suppliers who share our commitment to reducing environmental impact.

We meticulously select partners who demonstrate a genuine dedication to responsible sourcing, resource efficiency, and minimising their carbon footprint. We seek suppliers who not only provide environmentally responsible materials but actively contribute to a greener future.

By partnering with these industry leaders, we ensure that every Greenspan building is constructed with materials that not only meet our high standards of quality and durability but also align with our unwavering commitment to environmental responsibility.

Let’s look closer at some of the companies that provide the essential elements of our buildings and explore how their dedication to sustainable materials and operations helps us all build a better future.

ITI

ITI supplies some of our structural timbers such as framing timbers, decking and verandah posts.

As a company, they are committed to pushing the boundaries to source and supply socially and environmentally sustainable products to the Australian market.

Their environmental commitment is demonstrated through certification with FSC and PEFC, and the provision of EPDs (Environmental Product Declarations) which provide transparent, scientifically backed data on the environmental impact of products throughout their entire life cycle.

Simmonds Lumber

We also source structural timbers from Simmonds Lumber.

They too are committed to sustainability and responsible timber production, sourcing their products from sustainably managed forests.

They are also the world’s first company to certify the legality and provenance of timber imported from Indonesia using DNA technology. Additionally, they have worked closely with organisations such as Greenpeace and the World Wildlife Fund.

Forest One

Forest One is our main supplier of plywood.

They are deeply committed to environmental sustainability and prioritise ‘Responsible Specification’; the thoughtful and deliberate selection of high-quality, ethically sourced building products that minimise environmental impact and maximise efficient use of resources.

Forest One products are certified under either FSC or PEFC and as a company, they undertake various initiatives to minimise their environmental impact, such as using hybrid vehicles and delivery trucks, LED lighting, solar panels, and 100% recyclable packaging.

Programmed Timber

As the main supplier of our battens, Programmed Timber prioritises environmental sustainability as a core business principle.

They integrate sustainable practices throughout their operations with a renewable energy solar panel system powering most of their manufacturing plant, comprehensive waste minimisation strategies that optimise local timber fibre utilisation, recyclable packaging materials, and reusable dunnage products.

Modinex

Modinex are the suppliers of our cedar planks and weatherboard cladding.

They demonstrate environmental leadership through comprehensive sustainability practices in timber manufacturing, utilising PEFC-certified Western Red Cedar with a low carbon footprint. They maintain zero-waste operations by repurposing manufacturing byproducts, process timber near forests to minimise transport emissions, and have held Chain of Custody certification since 2015.

Their commitment extends to using recyclable packaging, ultra-low VOC coatings, and developing aluminium products with 75% reduced CO₂ emissions. Through 40-year partnerships with forest owners including First Nations communities, Modinex supports biodiversity with a three-to-one replanting policy while working toward Net Zero emissions by 2050 and investing in climate-resilient seedling research.

Weathertex

Other cladding choices such as Eco-hardwood or Pre-primed weatherboard are supplied by Weathertex.

Weathertex demonstrates a comprehensive approach to sustainability and their products have a ‘better than zero’ carbon footprint.

Their eco-friendly composite hardwood claddings are 100% natural, with 97% natural timber, 3% natural wax and no added silica, glues, resins or formaldehyde. Its unique manufacturing process utilises eco-friendly, steam-heated compression technology that reduces waste and minimises Weathertex’s carbon footprint.

They hold trusted third-party accreditations and certifications, reflecting their commitment to sustainability and providing genuine confidence in the eco-friendly and durable nature of their products.

Colorbond®

Colorbond®steel is the trusted roofing material for every Greenspan building.

Renowned for its durability and resilience to Australia’s diverse climate, Colorbond’s longevity inherently conserves resources.

All Colorbond® steel contains recycled content and the steel itself is also 100% recyclable. All but one of the core Colorbond® colours feature Thermatech® solar reflectance technology, which reduces heat absorption and consequently lowers energy consumption.

Colorbond® steel products are certified with an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD).

Stramit

We purchase our Colorbond roofing and purlin beams through Stramit, a supplier that actively pursues sustainability with a goal of achieving a 30% reduction in carbon emissions by 2030.

Their fleet of corporate vehicles are being moved from petrol to hybrid, and they partner with third-party logistics providers selected for their commitment to sustainability and efficiency.

They maintain a responsible and sustainable supply chain and invest in smarter factory processes that enhance energy efficiency and recycling initiatives.

Bondor

Bondor® insulated roof panels are high in thermal efficiency and contribute significantly to energy efficiency by combining a ceiling, insulation and a roof, finished with Colorbond® steel.

All Bondor products are backed by EPDs, are non-ozone depleting, and use fully reusable or recyclable EPD-FR materials wherever possible. Products are made to order, minimising waste and their buildability shortens construction time and therefore environmental impact.

With manufacturing sites in each state, Bondor is able to reduce transport-related carbon emissions through the entire construction process.

Corinthian Doors

The suppliers of our single glazed timber glass doors, Corinthian Doors adopt an ethical and environmentally responsible approach, sourcing FSC and PEFC certified timbers from sustainable forests.

They also comply with the Indonesian ‘Sistem Verifikasi Legalitas Kayu’, (which translates to Timber Legality Assurance System in English).

Sustainable production practices allow them to reuse materials to divert them from entering landfill, and waste products such as sawdust and offcuts are used to generate heat for the curing process.

Hume Doors and Timber

Hume Doors and Timber supply our double-glazed timber doors and other structural or finishing timbers such as door jambs and fascia boards.

They are committed to ethical and environmentally responsible practices, sourcing timber through PEFC and FSC-certified suppliers and responsible forestry. They maximise material usage and reduce waste through engineered timber products that use offcuts from fast-growing plantations.

Operationally, waste reduction is prioritised by reusing and recycling materials, minimising packaging, and optimising transport efficiency. Water conservation is achieved by capturing and utilising rainwater, while renewable energy initiatives include nationwide solar panel installations.

Stegbar

One of our aluminium and Western Red Cedar window and door suppliers, Stegbar, has a goal to be the industry leader in environmentally responsible practices and products.

Their thermally broken aluminium frames reduce the amount of heat or cold transferred into a building, making it more comfortable and energy-efficient.

They adopt a manufacturing approach that focuses on minimising waste and maximising resource efficiency; a company-wide commitment that is embedded within its culture, with employees trained to uphold environmental values across all operations.

Stegbar also promotes responsible timber sourcing and encourages their suppliers to practice sustainable, renewable forestry, while protecting watersheds and wildlife habitats.

Long before the impact of carbon footprints was known, Stegbar have been reducing carbon emissions by manufacturing close to markets and optimising energy use.

Additionally, they develop and implement Green Building practices and programs that support eco-conscious construction in both residential and commercial projects.

Bradford

Bradford has been manufacturing energy-saving insulation in Australia since 1934 and are the suppliers of our roof insulation.

Recognised as one of the world’s most sustainable building materials, Bradford glass wool insulation is engineered for performance and environmental responsibility.

No ozone-depleting products are used in production, and the finished product is low allergen with low embodied energy. It is manufactured from up to 80% recycled, flat or bottle glass with the remaining glass primarily made from sand.

Production plants use high-efficiency world-class process control technology and recycle all the water used in the manufacturing process. Compression packaging reduces transportation and the impact this has on energy and emissions.

Partnering for a better future

This holistic commitment to sustainability demonstrates our collective dedication to a better planet.

By carefully selecting partners who share our values, and by prioritising materials and practices that minimise environmental impact, we’re not just building structures; we’re building a legacy.

Each supplier, from timber providers to insulation specialists, contributes to a chain of responsible practices that extends throughout every Greenspan project. Through these partnerships, we are able to ensure that the buildings we create are not only durable and beautiful, but also contribute to a healthier, more sustainable future.

True craftsmanship extends beyond the factory floor. It’s about crafting a future where quality and sustainability are inextricably linked, and every building is a step towards a more responsible and enduring world.
