Seeing double: For humans and horses

Tony and Anna leveraged the versatile nature of Cedarspans to fulfill dual needs for their rural property.

The result is twin luxury farm accommodation for both human and equine inhabitants.

“Everything went to plan, quality materials and the team was really helpful.”

The same but different

Tucked away in the idyllic Macarthur region of NSW, Tony and Anna’s pair of Cedarspans stand proudly as a striking matching duo on their farm, a commercial horse breeding enterprise.

From the outside, the two buildings stand in synergy, but internally they cater to very different occupants.

One Cedarspan is dedicated to sensational stables for Tony’s prized horses; the other is a stunning home for the humans in their life!

Style and cohesion

When Tony and Anna decided they wanted to build neighbouring studio accommodation and stables on their farm, they needed to look cohesive side by side.

“Given that they were going to be built next to each other, we wanted them to match,” Anna confirms.

They also wanted something stylish and unique. “I didn’t want to build the typical steel fabrication horse stable,” says Tony.

Flexibility and versatility

With the two farm buildings serving distinct purposes, flexibility in design and layout was essential.

Greenspan’s customisable structures emerged as the perfect solution.

The adaptable designs provided a stylish yet blank canvas that could be tailored to meet the unique needs of both the horse stables and farm accommodation.

“We liked the Cedarspan barn design,” Anna tells us, and Tony agrees.

“What mainly appealed to me was the design,” he says.

Good-looking exteriors coupled with flexible interior space allowed Tony and Anna to fulfill the differing requirements of the twin Cedarspans. Selecting the Cedarspan Loft design provided an even greater degree of versatility.

“The loft design gave us a lot of flexibility in how we were going to use the space,” Tony states.

Creating and customising their twin farm accommodation

Having selected their preferred design, the couple sat down with their Greenspan Design Solutioneer to apply the necessary custom modifications.

Anna recalls, “We worked out the floor plan for the studio and the stables and worked with Greenspan as to where the doors and windows would go”.

Board and batten cladding and a full-length front verandah maintain the classic barn exterior for both. The soft cream it was later painted complements Anna and Tony’s personalised colour choices of Colorbond®’s “Windspray” roofing, white aluminium windows and custom stained timber doors.

The finished result is a contemporary country edge which continues inside.

Paradise for people

The human farm accommodation is a luxurious barn home, with an aesthetic that blends modern farmhouse with industrial accents.

Featuring one bedroom, a fully equipped modern kitchen, a luxurious modern bathroom, open-plan living and additional loft space, it is a comfortable, contemporary first home. Soaring cathedral ceilings and additional windows provide a sense of space and light.

It’s truly the perfect fusion of modern and rural living.

Heaven for horses

The horses have equally luxurious accommodation of their own. Three roomy stalls, soaring ceilings, and custom stable doors and windows provide a well-appointed home, pampering the needs of any discerning equine!

Tony is thrilled with how these stables have enhanced their commercial enterprise with first-class care for the breeding business.

“When we bring clients onto the property, they can see that the stables are nice and the horses are very well looked after,” he explains.

By maximising the Cedarspans’ innate versatility for their dual purposes, Tony and Anna have created first-class farm accommodation for thoroughbred equine and human residents. And without any compromise on style or function.
