From a standard house in the ‘burbs to a cosy cottage on acreage, Ben and his family are thrilled with their brand new Cedarspan. Serving as a multi-purpose space complete with a parent’s bedroom, retreat and walk-in-robe, teen rooms plus a media room, Ben and his wife Jess couldn’t be happier with the result.
“My dad who’s 74 and a couple of friends helped put it up. We also did the landscaping, adding pebbles and grass. I pushed 16 tonnes of pebbles!”
With all hands on deck thanks to a family of skilled and motivated handymen, Ben and co successfully installed the cabin in as little as two days – a record time in the Greenspan books!
“It’s been full on but it’s worth it. We love it.”
Ben purchased a Cedarspan 20C70 Cathedral Barn, measuring 3.8×12.6m in size. The external board and batten cladding has been painted in Taubmans™️ Foxtail, a calming grey-beige to complement the white architraves, barn doors and Colorbond roof in Surfmist.
“We just really love it. We come home every day and look at it and go – wow, this is amazing!”
Since moving to Ben’s parent’s acreage and even prior to installation, it was smooth sailing when it came to design and planning.
“I just came in one day to have a look and we designed it with John that afternoon. We sat down with John and worked out what we wanted to do with the design and then put the order through.”
As an earthmover, Ben is used to working hard and pushing through to see the final result. Despite the heavy lifting and construction, he couldn’t be happier with his cottage.
“It’s awesome. I have a smile on my face every day! It just feels so relaxing being around it and I’ve always wanted to live in a barn, that sort of thing is a dream. So, when we came across your one, we said, ‘we’ll have it!’”
“We’ve had a couple of friends so far, everyone loves it. We’ve had great feedback.”
But the greatest wow factor for everyone, including the team at Greenspan (who are beyond impressed), is Ben and Jess’ fastest build on record – a sign of great enthusiasm.
“The biggest thing is people can’t believe how quick it all happened!”
