Protect and enhance your cladding with confidence

Looking for a premium finish that brings out the beauty of your timber cladding and stands up to the harsh Australian climate? Cedarshield has you – and your cladding – covered.

Proudly made in Australia, Cedarshield is a scientifically formulated, water-based timber coating designed to protect and enhance both dressed and rough-sawn timber in demanding outdoor environments.

Unlike traditional oils, it won’t attract dust, won’t support combustion in a bushfire zone, and won’t need constant reapplication.

Instead, you get the look of freshly oiled cedar – without the mess, fire risk, or upkeep – and up to five times the lifespan.

Why choose Cedarshield

  • Water-based, not oil-based – safer in bushfire zones and cleaner to use
  • Long-lasting finish – won’t crack, peel, or blister for at least 5 years
  • Thicker than oils – plugs and seals fine cracks and checks in the timber
  • Scientifically formulated – built-in UV and moisture protection
  • Natural finish – dries clear with a warm cedar glow
  • Versatile – ideal for dressed or rough-sawn timber

Perfect for Western Red Cedar weatherboards, verandah posts, railings and more.

Not recommended for use on decking, outdoor furniture, doors or windows.

How to use Cedarshield

1. Prepare your surface
New timber must be sound, clean and free from dust, dirt, mould and grease, and reasonably dry.

Cedarshield can be used to overcoat acrylic finishes and cover most oil finishes, provided they are well weathered. Wash down thoroughly with water and detergent using a stiff brush.

If the existing coating is not sound or acceptable, it is necessary to remove it by suitable means such as ‘Pressure cleaning’ or ‘water-blasting’ on a ‘Soft’ setting.

2. Apply three coats
Stir well before and during use. Apply with a brush or roller, avoiding very hot or cold conditions.
The coating will go on milky and dry clear, enhancing the timber’s natural beauty. In hot conditions, thin the first coat with 5% water if needed.Allow 2 hours between coats, depending upon conditions and avoiding the likelihood of rain or condensation.

Tip: Don’t forget to coat end grains for full protection.

Clean-up

Clean equipment with water immediately after use. Methylated spirits can be used if the CEDARSHIELD has dried and will not clean up with water. Keep the can sealed when not in use.

Coverage

One litre will cover approximately 10-14 square metres on smooth timber and approximately 6-10 square metres on rough-sawn timber, depending on the texture of the surface being treated.

Maintenance

Inspect periodically. If you notice fading or cracking, lightly sand, clean, and recoat to restore the original finish.

Backed by a 5-Year Warranty

Cedarshield is guaranteed not to crack, peel, or blister when applied according to instructions. That’s premium protection you can count on.
