Peter is thrilled with what started as a vision for bushland cabin accommodation overlooking vast mountain ranges west of Cowra, as he approaches the final stages of fit-out.
Reminiscing back to the 90’s when Peter bought his first Cedarspan, he decided it was time for a new one.
Peter says, “The cabin looked great as it aged, was an aesthetically pleasing ‘kit’ and sat well in the landscape.”
“This time I went back because the product is well made and the support is fantastic. A non-builder with a few burly companions can erect it. The paperwork made DA fairly easy and the adaptability – in my case, the bushfire rating – was very simple.”
Surrounded by a national park that stretches across 7,965 hectares on plains consisting of dust and dirt now stands Peter’s Cedarspan 3050 Cathedral Loft Cabin. Consisting of verandah decking in Merbau, specified as a bushfire resistant species of wood as well as Weathertex external cladding, the cabin is BAL 19 certified to comply with DA.
From pre-planning stages right through to council submission, approval and delivery, Peter attests he’s had a great experience with overall.
“Planning was easy despite bushfire issues. I highly commend the product but also the people, as John was simply awesome through the whole process. Even well into the build with helpful advice and great knowledge to help me complete it.”
Though the conditions were at times unforgiving, the project continued to progress without a hitch.
“We have had incredibly harsh weather including wild storms, torrential rain and crazy wind squalls since I built it and it is absolutely solid.”
With Peter’s loyal companions by his side during construction, finishing touches to the interior are underway including the kitchen, bathroom, wall linings and floor coverings.
“It’s a 10 out of 10 from me. Everyone who sees it loves it, even my family who are the hardest to impress!”
