Today’s dream and tomorrow’s vision
Currently, this striking Cedarspan is home to the barn workshop of Geoff’s dreams.
With enough space for his boat, three vehicles and a caravan under the awning, the barn provides ample room for all his prized projects and gear.
But the possibilities don’t end there.
With its stunning good looks, spacious size and versatile design, future plans involve converting it into attractive barn accommodation.
Smooth process from order to assembly
Geoff really enjoyed the smooth process of designing, ordering and building his dream barn, all of which took place quickly and efficiently at the end of 2022.
“Everything from your end was pretty damn smooth & easy, everyone, the delivery, everything worked beautifully,” he says.
As a DIY-friendly barn kit, Geoff decided to tackle the installation himself, enlisting the help of some builder friends.
He’d never attempted a build of this scale before. But Geoff knew Greenspan’s support was at the end of the phone if he needed it.
However, it wasn’t necessary.
Geoff tells us, “It went quite smoothly for a bunch of novices!”
With clear instructions and common sense, the building came together easily. “We just sorta went off what was online and it all worked fine…It was all just pure logic anyways, bolting the panels together and the roofing and everything,” Geoff recalls.
Artisan details make a statement
After dreaming of it for many years, Geoff had very specific criteria and knew the exact look he wanted to achieve in his workshop barn.
An all-cedar construction was a must to achieve his ideal aesthetic; this timber taking on a graceful grey colouring over time. “I’m just going to go for the nice weathered cedar silvery look,” Geoff confirms.
Featuring three sets of handcrafted cedar barn doors across the front, cedar cladding to all sides and a beautiful set of cedar glass doors, Geoff’s barn is an absolute beauty inside and out.
It definitely makes a style statement. “It’s created a lot of interest down here,” Geoff says of the reaction from local residents.
Multipurpose timber paradise
The spacious timber barn now houses Geoff’s dream workshop, complete with his prized tools neatly arranged on pegboard.
It’s a huge 80sqm of internal space, plus a loft, and externally features an attractive alpine porch at the other. More than enough room to house his beloved vehicles and indulge his hobbies in a relaxing, inspiring space.
With sunshine pouring through the cedar glass doors and a crisp breeze flowing in through the barn doors, Geoff has found workshop heaven.
And, an awning on one side provides a peaceful spot to enjoy a break while taking in the view.
Built for the future, built for life
But the versatile barn has also been built with future plans in mind.
In coming years, Geoff envisions converting it into a self-contained accommodation barn.
With its picturesque rural setting and artisan design, the cedar barn is sure to be popular with guests looking to escape.
But, that’s if Geoff can actually leave it himself!
Geoff’s barn workshop is a Cedarspan Loft 30CHL80 measuring 14.4m x 5.6m with a loft measuring 5.4m x 3.6m.
It has been further personalised with an upgrade to cedar cladding and handcrafted cedar doors and windows. Colorbond® roofing is in “Woodland Grey”. Geoff also added an alpine porch to one end, and an awning which he has added to the side.
